Dolores
Many names have a religious origin. Dolores is a modern example of a Spanish name of this type. It comes from 'María de los Dolores' meaning 'Virgin Mary of our Sorrows', from the latin 'dolor' which means 'pain' or 'sorrow'.

Inma and Conchita are also common Spanish names. Inma is a diminutive of Inmaculada and Conchita the diminutive of Concepción and in the same Christian tradition they both derive from the idea of the Immaculate Conception which referred to the Jesus Christ being conceived in the womb of the Holy Virgin Mary, who was said to be 'immaculate' in the sense of 'free from original sin' .
